General Sailing
'Free' Sailing on Tuesday evenings is the most relaxed session of the week. There is no structure, no coaching and no organised racing, just an open invitation for members to get on the water and enjoy a casual sail at their own pace.
It is a great chance to practise skills, try a different boat, have a gentle cruise round the reservoir or simply unwind after work. Families often come down together and newer sailors use it to build confidence without the pressure of a formal session.
There is no official safety cover provided by the club. Instead, those taking part share the responsibility among themselves. If you go afloat, you agree to look out for each other, keep things sensible and make sure someone competent is on the water in a powerboat whenever boats are sailing.
'Free' Sailing works because members support each other and use good judgement. It is a simple, friendly way to enjoy the water and make the most of the lighter evenings.
Turn up, rig your boat, make sure someone is in a powerboat on the water and head out when you are ready. It is as easy as that.
