Spring Series - Week 9 summary and overall results

Published 2:27pm on 26 May 2026

On Sunday members arrived to a mirror like Winscar reservoir bathed in glorious sunshine for the last week of the 2026 Spring Series.  Fortunately for all the wind gradually built in over the course of the morning setting up the day for some fantastic sailing.  11 boats hit the water for the three morning races, with a variety of courses ranging the relatively straightforward to one that included enough marks (and gybes) to test memories (and boat handling skills) to the point where a lead (rescue) boat was provided!   It proved enough for the majority of racers as a small determined contingent of 5 boats launched for the two afternoon races.  It was the usual suspects flighting it out at the front of the fleet, with Colin coming out on top after Pete (H) called it a day after the first couple of races.  Emily and Pete (C) both showed what consistently can deliver coming second and third respectively.

The 2026 Spring Series got off to a shaky start as there was no sailing for the first three weeks due to weather conditions, but once the weather gods decided to play nicely it was brilliant to see 32 competitors across the range of ages and abilities, sailing 12 different classes of boat compete in 28 races.  The overall series was won by Emily with Seb in a very close second and then a big points gap to Colin in third - congratulations!

We would also like to say a very big 'THANK YOU' to all our members who volunteered to do a sailing duty over the course of the series, with a particular shout out to those who did more than 1 duty of the course of the series, because without them none of this would have been possible.

The results for both the day and the series are available in the usual place.
