The past month has seen Pennine host it's two biggest external events of the year.
On 27 June 31 boats, including Agnes, Alex, Dexter, Emily, Fraser, Fred, Seb and Victoria from the club, took part in the Pennine round of the 2025/26 North East & Yorkshire Youth Sailing Association (NEYYSA) Junior and Youth Traveller series. Three races were sailed in some very strong and gusty conditions which tested the young sailors stamina and abilities to the limit on a course with a long beat followed by a series of power reaches and runs. Well done to Seb, who was third overall, and to Agnes who was third in the Regatta fleet; you can find the full results here.
On 11 July 32 boats, including 11 from the club, took part in the Pennine round of the ILCA North Grand Prix Series. Four races were sailed in great conditions with plenty of sun and a nice breeze that built from 10 to 15 mph through the day. There was very close racing throughout the fleet with different winners in every race, although Leis Bacon from ??? showed how important consistency is winning the overall event coming second in every race. Congratulations to Kathryn who was fifth overall and first lady; you can find the full results here
.These events are really important for showcasing our club to the broader regional sailing community and they require a lot of support from members to run smoothly both on and off the water. Thank you to everyone who helped make these events a success again this year.
