Topper Class Association Training

The International Topper Class Association (ITCA) GBR (aka the UK association) runs a series of training and coaching events nationally and regionally to support sailors of all abilities.  To find out more see Topper racing and coaching, including the selection policy for the including National Performance Squad.  Please note that applications for the 2026-2027 Regional Performance Squad and National Performance Squad will open on 1st June 2026.  Make sure you checkout the events calendar for regional traveller series in the North and the National Series events leading up to the summer of 2026, as these will form part of the selection for both squads. 

In summary, the types of training is as follows :

• Regional Open Training Each region runs a series of one- or two-day training events, open to any sailors who is a ITCA member. In the North, events are spread across the North East, North West and Yorkshire. Aimed at club level sailors and those new or just starting to race in the regional traveller series. There will normally be a summer and winter block of dates to choose from on a Pay as you go basis. Winter dates normally align with the RPS dates.
• Regional Performance Squad 2026/2027 details are TBC but will be similar to the 2025/2026 cycle which was as follows :
  • 5 weekends over the winter (October- March/April).
  • Selected from traveller series/training (the selection policy will be available soon).
  • Group size will vary be region, with up to approx. 21 sailors in larger regions.
  • Same coaches all winter.
  • 2 weekends joint with another region (one to be held in each region).
  • If there are enough 4.2 sailors within a region, there will be a separate group for them (if not, 4.2 sailors can still be selected).
  • Pay upfront for all 5 training weekends.
• National Invitational Training - This will be offered to the top 24 sailors in the National Series ranking based on results at the Nationals Series (NS) events.
• National Performance Squad - Sailors will be selected from the National Series rankings per the selection policy on the ITCA GBR website.
