Brass Monkey Series Week 9 - aka The Emily Dengate Birthday Dash

Bright and gusty conditions greeted sailors on Sunday for week 9 of this season's Brass Monkey series which also happened to coincide with one of our youth members birthday.

Testing (if measured by the number of capsizes) and entertaining (primarily for the spectators) conditions saw some of the usual suspects (Pete, Emily, Colin and Seb) fighting it out at the front of the fleet.  Race 1 was a duel between Pete, who was flying in his ILCA 6, and Colin whilst race 2 turned into a father/daughter battle between Colin and Emily; you might have expected father might have let daughter win on her birthday but Colin was not giving any ground!  As an 'on the water' birthday present the older sailors hatched a plan for race 3, slow down just before the finish line to ensure Emily crossed the line first, but were then made to eat their words as she proceeded to show everyone how it should be done by storming to a great race victory.  The full race results and the current overall series standings are available in the 'Results' section of the website. 

After the sailing it was then time for the main event in the clubhouse - celebrating Emily's birthday.....
