Early Summer evening series - Week 3 summary

It was brilliant to see 8 boats out for the third week of the Early Summer evening series, with one Streaker joining a fleet of ILCAs.  As sailors hit the water the wind was a gentle SW 8-9mph although it dropped off slightly as the racing progressed.  On the water, at the front of the fleet it was the battle of the Horsman family with Alex dominating the race from the start in his ILCA 7, lapping the back of the fleet by the end of the race, chased by his dad who was also in a ILCA 7 with Emily Dengate hot on their heels in her ILCA 6.  The rest of the pack sailed in a tight group slightly further back for most of the race with frequent changes of position and friendly jousting with Steve Spencer in his Streaker.  

However, once handicaps had been taken into account Emily split the Horsman's (some might say 'like a rose between two thorns') with Alex coming first, Emily second and John third.  A special shout out goes to Fred Porter and his performance as he transitions from a Topper into ILCA 6.  Full results are available on the club website.
